Flat Stanley, Day 3 Hanukkah! and Day 4, Quiet Time.

Well, last night was a really fun Hanukkah party.  Patty and Robert's nice neighbors came over with their 3 boys
Hudson, Jeff, Patty, Robert, Parker, Justin, Heather

We lit the candles, 5 for the 5th night of Hanukkah, and one candle for the shamash, which in Yiddish means "the helper".

Hanukkah is the festival of light.  The Jews were attacked by tribes from the north, who defiled the Temple.  After they defeated the northerners, they wanted to rededicate the Temple to God, by burning an eternal flame in their Menorah.  They only had enough oil to burn the 8 flamed Menorah for 1 night, but a miracle occurred, and the flames burned for 8 nights.
Latkes are eaten, fried in oil, another tradition.  They're like hash browns...everybody loves latkes!

Then we played dreidel, using real Hanukkah gelt, chocolate coins!  Yum!  I mostly watched the guys playing...I was busy in the kitchen.

We had turkey, latkes, and brussel sprouts!  Almost all the food was gone!  It was good.

Everybody left, we cleaned up, and went to bed.  As I fell asleep, I thought about all the new experiences, and things I'm learning.  It's fun to travel!

Sunday was quiet time.  Patty had to finish making a Christmas present, and then we went to visit Robert's father in the mountains...he turns 92 years old tomorrow!
What will tomorrow bring?
